I know I said last week's post would be the final in my Poland series, but I can't resist telling you about one more Polish designer. It's Bitru Fariel, from Warsaw, Poland, whose jewelry was showcased at the Emerging Trends event at the 2012 Boston Fashion Week.
Fariel was one of several up-and-coming young designers from around the world who was brought to Boston for the Emerging Trends show by a PR firm called The Synergy Events, which is dedicated to getting young designers exposure at fashion week shows around the world.
The coconut necklace (above) is made from both uneven craked hulls and white edible parts cut up into oblong slices stringed through with silver wire.
Fariel uses natural materials such as ordinary stones, leather and collected leaves as well as materials not typically assocated with jewelry, like coins, wires, electrical cables, shell casings, and extension cords. She calls it "creative recycling."
The necklace (above) is made from protective flexible corrugated conduits decorated with Swarovski elements.
Many of Fariel's pieces are made with silver wire rather than sterling silver. This necklace (above) is made from wire and natural stones.
Below, red coral pieces are pinned on oblong wire, "imitating and worn as a spine".
How about a cinnamon stick necklace?
These are conceptual, avant garde pieces. Love them or not, they're original, and very fashionable.
