Just back from my trip to Krakow, where I discovered some great wearable art. I stumbled on the J. Podlasek boutique, located on a small side street off of the medieval Old Town square.
The boutique had a great selection of gorgeous clothes made out of linen, cotton and wool, as well as handmade jewelry to go with many of the outfits.
Made by local artists, some of the pieces are hand-painted or made on a loom. I was drawn to the colorful inlaid yarn patterns on this long tunic.
This peasant-style tunic has a cute necklace made of felt and clay beads to match.
How about a stylish blue felt cloche to get you through winter?
Aren't the patterns and colors on the coat and scarf ensemble below nicely playful?
One local trend: quite a few women wore orange shoes or sneakers. I even passed an outdoor photo shoot where a model was decked out in a black, backless dress and bright orange sneakers.
Even if wearable art doesn't dominate Krakow's streets, it's there. To see more handmade fashion, go to J. Podlasek.

Hi,
Thanks very much for your comment. I agree -- each piece had a great blend of colors and textures.

I really like the colour combinations used in these creations.

Hi:
What a small world that you were in Krakow, which is such a fashionable place! Wow about the co-ops - where did you find them?
Thanks for your comment!

I was ACTUALLY HERE!I visited Krakow in April-and I was overwhelmed with the bounty of beautiful handmade crafts there. There were co-ops everywhere-some a small as a walk in closet but all with beautiful handmade goods for sale.I like to joke that if I lived in Krakow I'd be beautifully dressed but penniless!
