Fashion designer Selma Karaca, originally from Turkey, got her start in the fashion world by making hats. In 1999, she moved to New York to capitalize on the creative energy there and begin her own artistic fashion label. Karaca knits, drapes, trims, and finishes each of her wedding gowns, corsets, and dresses by hand. Pictured here are her sexy "Spirals" ribbon dresses. Karaca says, "I have been working on "Spirals" since 2000. Spirals are one of my signature styles: one long stretch fabric ribbon winds around the body....By eliminating seams on the sides of the body, Spirals accentuate the natural lines of a woman’s body." I like the the feminine, sculptural effect of the ribbon and the pretty colors she uses. You can see Karaca's fashions at the One of a Kind Show and Sale in New York City from December 11 - 13, 2009.
