Is plastic the new black in fashion? Plastics have shown up in a variety of ways on the runway this year, including funky jewelry. I just discovered Tupperware jewelry artist Liana Kabel, from her blog, 'Plastic Girl.' Kabel, who is from Brisbane, Australia, says that she was destined to become a plastic jeweler, coming from a home with a Tupperware Lady mother and jeweler father. She creates earrings, necklaces and bracelets by cutting, melding and fusing together pieces of old Tupperware. I love this quote of Kabel's, “If it looks like a lolly I like it!” Here are a few of her pieces made out of Tupperware and sterling silver that I found on Oye Modern, an online jewelry store specializing in emerging jewelry designers from Australia. Pictured above is a ring, followed by two pairs of earrings. So, are you into plastic jewelry?
I think this work is fab! Thanks for the heads up on the artist.
