Coco Dunmire says, "I employ pigment, resin, pure silver, iron and 18k yellow gold to create dense lightness. Peeling open the waxed paper wrapping from a piece of resin is always surprising, like a memory I haven't yet created." Dunmire believes that jewels, like people, are particular and unique. It's funny that Dunmire mentions waxed paper (above) because the 'almost' see through nature of her work reminds me of the texture of waxed paper-you can't see through it but what's inside of it is still visible. Here are two of her works: the Moment of Calm Necklace ('to appease the inner nomad') and the Captive Ring (below). Dunmire's work will be on display at the Zimmerhof, Germany Symposium, 'Full of Facets' from June 11-14, 2009. See more at Dunmire's The Secret Life of Jewels.
