Silvia Walz Bracelets

Just look at these gorgeous bracelets by Silvia Walz, the German designer based in Barcelona, Spain. Made out of silver, copper and enamel, these bracelets are part of Walz's 'Architecture Series' that is on display at Barcelona's Gallery Hipotesi through January 11, 2009. These are strong, beautiful works of art. I admire Walz's use of metal that she skillfully turns into organic shapes and sculptural elements and combines with colorful, playful patterns.                      

Handbags by Rocio

The mission of Scotland based Rocio is to create handbags that 'return fashion to the arts'. Rocio bags are handmade from smooth acacia wood, with each bag taking up to six weeks to complete. Pictured here is 'Rose', which is lacquered and capped with Swarovski crystals on a leather flap. I love the color, playful handle and shape of the bag. It reminds me of the kind of bag that the famous 1930s animated cartoon character Betty Boop would have carried. See more beautiful bags at Rocio. 

Beaded Creations by Yael Krakowski

Israeli born artist Yael Krakowski is inspired by color, shapes and textures, which are reflected in her beautiful beaded jewelry. Both SOFT GRENADE pendant (left) and funky RING NUMBER 6 (below) are made from glass beads, silver, and thread. I like the modern, elegant look of these pieces. Taffeta Slippers by Joanne Rossman

Joanne Rossman, "Purveyor of the Unnecessary and the Irresistible," makes colorful slippers and scarves out of taffeta. ARABESQUE slippers (left) are silk embroidery on silk taffeta with loop fringe and beaded ornamentation. Rossman sells slippers, scarves and lots more out of her small shop in one of Boston's older neighborhoods, Roslindale. On January 11, Rossman is holding her sixth annual pajama party sale - shoppers must be in their pajamas to receive discount prices. See more 'unnecessary but irresistible' creations at Joanne Rossman.   

Rubber Glove Jewelry

Min-ji Cho likes turning ordinary rubber gloves into lovely body adornments. The brooches here, made from rubber gloves and pearls, are just two examples of her work.
