Polymer Clay Jewelry by Elise Winters

The jewelry that Elise Winters creates is, in her words, "crazed acrylic" - a combination of polymer clay with acrylic paints that results in vivid colored, luminous surfaces. The bracelets, necklaces, brooches and earrings Winters designs are often done in organic, abstract forms that suggest plants, rippling water, the sky, earth or other natural elements. Bracelets from Recycled Tin Cans

Artist Harriete Estel Berman creates bracelets from recycled tin cans that are so pretty, she recommends hanging them on the walls when they're not being worn. Berman's beautiful, unusual work is in the permanent collection of 11 museums. Pictured here is the PURPLE AND ORANGE CHINESE TIN bracelet, made out of a recycled Chinese bakery tin. Note the details - inside the wrist is red with metallic gold lines and the outside border edge is scalloped. You can buy this distinctive bracelet and her other jewelry at Berman's Etsy site. While Berman also makes teacups, earrings and other artwork out of recycled tin, I think her bracelets are the most interesting. Iceland's Farmer's Market

Have you thought of Icelandic sweaters as gray, brown, and black and very heavy? Think again. Some talented and enterprising Icelandic artists are revitalizing the market for hand-knit sweaters. In Reykjavik, Iceland, Bergthora Gudnadottir aims to create pieces that are slimmer, colorful and lightweight so that more people will enjoy wearing them every day. Gudnadottir and musician Joel Palsson cofounded the Farmers Market to sell their modern brand of sweaters and accessories made from natural Icelandic wool. The beautiful fringed OXL SHAWL, hand made out of cotton/ramie, is from their accessories line. See more at the Farmer's Market.

Metal Work by Felicity Peters

Felicity Peters is a metal artist who makes jewelry simply "because it gives me pleasure'. Her work is informed by architecture, Etruscan history and the landscape. The INSPIRED BY THE GHERKIN necklace (left) is made from sterling silver thread and earplugs. This piece is very different from her usual metal work, for which she is best known, where she fuses gold sheet to sterling silver to create unusual textures. MULTICULTURE RING MAYPOLE (right), which connotes Australian society, is more typical of Felicity's work. I love the textured, lustrous metals, creative materials and stunning colors. Flower Inspired Jewelry by Natalya Pinchuk

Natalya Pinchuk creates "miniature artificial terrains", which are often inspired by bright flowers. By putting "imaginative and fantastic landscapes onto one's body", Pinchuk hopes to provoke "a questioning of what is precious and what is real in our daily lives." This wild looking brooch, from Pinchuk's Growth Series, is made from wool, copper, enamel, plastic, rubber and waxed thread. Pinchuk also makes giant, long necklaces out of felted wool.
