Recycled Fabric Transformed into Jewelry & Clothing

I discovered Manon Gignoux on Decor 8, the design blog. French artist-designer Manon Gignoux creates clothing and accessories like jewelry and scarves from pieces of recycled fabric. She reworks the fabric through the use of dyes, pleats and weaves. Each of her pieces is unique. "My work lies between art and fashion." Her soft, lovely creations are often made out of comfortable fabrics in muted colors. Wearable Technology Dress from Studio 5050

Here is the Masai Dress from Depsina Papadopolous of Studio 5050. This dress is inspired by the wedding collars of the Masai, who live in Kenya and Tanzania. What makes this dress unique is that when the beads of the dress brush up against someone or something they emit a series of sounds. Artisan Crafted Jewelry from Viva Terra

Viva Terra is a store that sells artisan crafted jewlery, clothing and household items from organic and sustainable sources. One of the artists featured on the site is the well known Ayala Bar, from Israel, who used beads, brocaded fabric pillows, matallic ball housings, tassels, stones and glass teardrops to create this matching necklace and earring set from her Pastiche Jewelry Collection.
